My Story: Navigating Two Worlds

Hi there! I’m Rafael Cazares, LMFT.

As a Mexican-American professional, the son of immigrants, and the first in my family to graduate from college, my practice is built around a single truth. You can deeply honor your roots while updating the unwritten family rules about success and stress so they work for the life you are building today.

Growing up, I lived the reality of the acculturation gap. I navigated the traditional world of immigrant parents while later carving out my own path in a high-pressure corporate career.

My own journey was not a straight line. I chose to completely change career paths and redefine my life.

Because of that, I know firsthand the unique mix of fear and freedom that comes with stepping out of a predictable track to build a new blueprint.

I also understand the internal tug-of-war that comes with navigating the complexities of Latinidad. There is a real, unspoken hardship in trying to figure out exactly where you fit.

You might feel the quiet anxiety of trying to choose the right term, whether that is Latino, Latine, or Latinx. Or you might stress over generational labels that do not quite fit your daily reality.

That pressure to constantly overanalyze and get it right is exhausting. It is just another hidden layer of overdrive.

Whether you are trying to find your footing in high-pressure corporate spaces, or you are simply tired of trying to fit into a neat demographic box, you do not have to walk this path alone.

I bring my genuine personality, direct honesty, and warmth into every session so we can handle the messiness of identity and change together.

How I Work: The Whole Person in Context

My perspective is deeply shaped by a systemic lens. That is exactly what being a Marriage and Family Therapist is all about.

Having navigated a major corporate career transition myself, I do not see your current challenges as personal failures. Instead, I see them as a natural response to the high-pressure context of your life. I do not look at your burnout, trauma, or focus challenges in isolation. I look at you as a whole person. We look at how your history, your daily workload, your family dynamics, and your routines all connect.

Because of this, I naturally value clarity, purpose, and direction.

Our individual work moves past just talking about the pressure. By combining intentional behavioral science like ACT with advanced trauma processing like EMDR, we focus on identifying the exact loops keeping you stuck.

This allows you to safely step out of old survival patterns and consciously choose your next move.

Life Outside the Office

My most important roles are right at home as a partner and a parent. Navigating these major life transitions keeps me completely grounded in the daily realities, sleepless nights, and heavy pressures of family responsibility.

I do not just teach relational health; I actively study and practice it in my own connections every single day. Backed by specialized training through Postpartum Support International (PSI), my goal is to help you build the practical skills to manage your internal world, make sense of your physical stress, and navigate the intense identity shifts of early parenthood and fatherhood. Using proven relationship frameworks (Gottman Method and EFCT) tailored for individual care, I help you break rigid conflict loops so you can show up for yourself and the people who matter most as a steady, supportive teammate.
